Organic Website Traffic Is All About Keyword Research
Filed under: Keyword Research, Search Engine Optimization
In order to obtain any organic website traffic from any online search engine the first thing you’ll want to do is determine which keywords you’ll want to optimize your website for.
During this first step you’ll want to brainstorm pretty much any terms, words and phrases that people may use to find your website.
As a very basic example if you had a website where you were selling weight loss pills you would probably want to optimize your website for words like weight-loss, lose weight and weight loss supplement right?
Wrong.
While those might be great words and phrases that most people would associate with your products they probably won’t be doing you any good in terms of generating website traffic.
You see terms like “weight loss” and “lose weight” and weight loss supplement” are highly competitive and the websites that rank highly for these search terms have been around for years and most of them have hundreds if not thousands of anchored back links pointing back to them.
Lot’s of back links and an old domain make for very high search engine rankings.
So how does this help you?
Well in order to obtain some search engine traffic of your own you’ll have to go after the “low hanging” fruit or what we internet marketers call - long tail keywords - keywords that don’t get searched as often but have enough searches to be worth the effort because there’s not a lot of competition.
And basically that’s what keyword research is all about… finding keywords and keyword phrases that are being searched often enough to be worth your time and that don’t yet have a significant amount of competition to prevent you from ranking on the first page of a search engine search.
Do that right and you’l be generating all kinds of organic website traffic.
